Slot Asserts He Is Safe and Retains Liverpool's Support After PSV Humiliation

Arne Slot admitted that it's expected for concerns to be raised about his position after another convincing loss versus the Dutch champions.

Liverpool suffered their ninth loss in 12 games, representing the team's poorest run since being relegated in the 1953-54 season.

They were outplayed by the Dutch league champions on a difficult evening at their home ground.

“I feel secure, things are alright, I have got a lot of support from management,” the coach remarked.

“It's important to turn it around and earn three points of course but when you're in a managerial role and underperforming then it's typical that doubts arise.”

He continued, “I accept my role. It is not the initial instance I've found myself in a difficult position but it's crucial that we changed our fortunes.”

Discussions with Liverpool Hierarchy

Upon being questioned to expand on his discussions with the club's leadership, Slot revealed:

“We communicate frequently. They assist to the team and for me and we have those conversations but they don't phone me every single minute each day to say they back me.”

He mentioned, “Through standard discussions I feel the trust. But I've not talked to them since this match yet so it remains to be seen.”

Persistent Problems and Player Reaction

Slot highlighted familiar shortcomings from his team in their European loss, namely wasted chances and defensive lapses.

Meanwhile, midfielder Jones was more direct in his assessment of the current crisis.

“I haven't got the solutions. Frankly, I do not. I'm telling that to all,” Jones said.

“It's simply not good enough. I don't need to wait to reflect. I'm beyond feeling anger internally. I’m at the point currently where I simply lack the vocabulary.”

He continued, “It’s hard because I play for the side I follow. I’m a fan, and I’ve seen this club all my life.”

“For many years, I haven’t experienced a Reds side experiencing a period like this with results this poor.”

Jones finished, “But we continue to wear the emblem on our shirts. And until it is removed, we'll continue to fight.”

“We’re going to try to bring this squad return to the top, prove once more what Liverpool stands for and why people call it the top club in the world.”

“But right now, things are bad and it needs to change.”
