Nigel Farage Claims Educators of ‘Poisoning Our Kids’ on Race Issues
The political figure stated that educators would initiate walkouts within weeks a success at the polls for his party, accusing them of “harming young minds” by telling students that African-Caribbean youth are oppressed and white children oppressors.
At a gathering for a private US Christian college, Farage outlined his perspective on British schools, stating that the “Marxist left” had “now in control of our education system”.
“I expect a teachers’ strike very quickly after winning the next general election,” he remarked in response to questions.
“They are poisoning our kids. They are telling them to be ashamed of their country. They are telling little Johnny, who’s eight, who is black that he is oppressed and little Oliver, who is white, who is eight that he is an oppressor. They create division, instead of fostering unity. They promote this negative culture.”
Reacting to these assertions, Daniel Kebede dismissed the notion that the schools were under Marxist influence as “absurd”. He pointed out that any strikes must relate to teachers’ terms and conditions, and questioned whether the party would target these immediately upon entering government.
“The politician has crafted his political career on coded rhetoric and now, similar to other figures, he is lining up teachers and their unions for a fight,” Kebede stated.
“I think that’s grossly irresponsible. I don’t – and nor does my union – advocate such divisive theories as he’s suggesting … Should he become prime minister he would undermine state services, particularly schooling … and the outcome would be catastrophic for education and children.”
The party, which is leading the polls by about 10 points, has provided limited specifics on a proposed education policy and does not appear to have appointed an education spokesperson.
Nonetheless, his comments suggested the group would reform the system and the curriculum. Farage declared: “We have got a massive job with schooling – truly monumental. And, we can’t do it in six months or a year; it requires years, a long-term effort to reform.”
Farage expressed that younger generations are receptive to critical thinking, but millennials were “absolutely hopeless”.
Honoring Charlie Kirk, Farage said: “My goal for schooling is to teach critical thinking – to educate individuals that multiple perspectives exist and you make up your own mind rather than what’s happening now where views are labeled good or bad. It’s a massive job in both Britain and America.”
Reform has previously clashed with the UK’s largest teaching union, after Kebede called the party “extremist and prejudiced” and dismissed Farage as “a poundshop Donald Trump”.
Farage has accused the union head with being “an avowed radical” … someone who is absolutely determined that our children should be poisoned through education, their thinking tainted regarding national issues” and maintained that the organization seeks to brainwash youth opposed to his party.
Roughly a million individuals are employed in education in the UK, with educators comprising half and the remainder being assistants and administrative personnel. The major education union has about 450,000 members.
Countrywide walkouts over teacher pay and conditions in recent years caused widespread disruption in schools and millions of days of lost learning for students.
At the US event, the Reform leader also vowed to promote the online educational material of the Christian college in the UK. He stated organizations like it were “key to resistance”, noting: “I mean this. I’ll assist attract vast numbers of young people to these educational programs. I make that commitment now and I will follow through.”
The college, a religious educational establishment, provides complimentary classes. Its website states: “Comprehensive learning is necessary for personal happiness and to perpetuate the blessings of freedom. It offers these beautiful courses for free to every interested learner.”
